The scene for game three of the American League Divisional Series will take place in Northern California, as the Oakland A’s host the Detroit Tigers at the O.co Coliseum in a crucial elimination contest for the “Money Ballers”. First pitch in this one is set to be thrown at 9:05 PM ET.

After an amazing regular season run, which ended with the A’s capturing the American League West title, they suddenly find themselves in a must win situation after the Tigers took care of business – taking the first two games of this series.

Even though this game is being played in Oakland, one would have to think the Tigers have all the momentum in this matchup. Both victories by the Tigers were anything but a lock; however you have to take wins any way you can get them…especially in the postseason.

Unfortunately for the A’s, history is not on their side in this one. The A’s have been down 0-2 in a playoff series eight times and they have never once made a comeback to advance. Additionally, the A’s have lost six straight postseason games – all to the Tigers, who swept them back in 2006.

The pitching matchup features right-hander Anibal Sanchez (4-6, 3.74 ERA) for the Tigers versus A’s left-hander Brent Anderson (4-2, 2.57 ERA), who is making his first start since September 19th. Ironically it came against the Tigers.

The Oddsmakers have listed the A’s as a -130 favorite in this elimination game, while settling on an over/under total of 7 runs.
